HOUSTON - The 48th-ranked Rice Owls women's tennis team will take on two opponents over the next few days, heading west to take on the 71st-ranked UTSA Roadrunners on Saturday morning before returning home to take on the 63rd-ranked Priceton Tigers on Monday afternoon.
Rice comes into the match ranked 48th in the ITA's latest rankings, up from 59th last week. The Owls also carry a 8-4 record after going 2-0 last week, taking down UNLV and Louisiana Tech each 4-0.
UTSA is ranked 71st in the ITA's rankings, earning the ranking after a 14-1 start to the season. The only blemish on UTSA's is a 4-2 loss to Tulane in neutral site action. The Roadrunners rebounded from the loss last week with a 4-3 victory over North Texas.
Princeton is ranked 63rd in the ITA's rankings after a 7-4 opening to the season. The Tigers are 1-2 in their previous three games, falling to Old Dominion and Penn State, but getting back in the win column with a 4-0 victory over Temple.
Rice is 25-0 all-time against UTSA, with the last victory over the Roadrunners coming in a 4-0 victory last season. The Owls and Roadrunners have met six times since 2020, meeting twice during the 2022 season, once at home and once in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
The series between Rice and Princeton is tied at 2-2 each, with the Tigers earning the last win in the series, a 5-2 victory in New Jersey in 2019. Rice's last victory over Princeton was a 6-1 win at the George R. Brown Tennis Center the year prior.
