Men’s Golf Sends Trio to Bentwater Intercollegiate

HOUSTON — The Rice Men's Golf spring season begins Feb. 10-11, when Raghav Chugh, William Johnson and Davis Byrd compete as individuals at the Bentwater Intercollegiate, at Bentwater Country Club in Montgomery, Texas.

THE LINEUP
Raghav Chugh – No. 1 position … is first in school history in career stroke average (72.61), average vs. par (0.97), and rounds in the 60's (16), third in top five finishes (5), fourth in top 10 finishes (10), fifth in rounds of par or better (38), and seventh in top 20 finishes (12) … made only fall appearance at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, where he finished a career-best -8 to tie for eighth-place (9/30-10/1).
William Johnson – No. 2 position … averaging 74.17 strokes through six rounds … tied for 61st-place in first career action at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic (9/30-10/1) … earned first career top-20 finish at the HCU Husky Invitational, tying for 13th-place (10/28-29) … fired back-to-back rounds of par or better, carding 71-72 in the first and second rounds.
Davis Byrd – Individual No. 3 position … averaging 75.00 strokes per round in three rounds … made only fall appearance at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic (9/30-10/1), tying for 61st-place, where he set career-bests for low 36-hole score (149), and low 54-hole score (225).
PAIRINGS
The trio will tee off at 8 a.m. from holes 17-18.

The Owls begin their team competition next Monday, Feb. 17-18, when they travel to Laredo, for the Border Olympics.
