Bocachica hits first career home run
How it Happened: The 16th-ranked Bulldogs took an early 3-0 lead, but Bocachica laced a line shot into the Crawford Boxes in the top of the fifth to pull the Owls within one run. MSU answered that score with one of its own in the bottom of the inning, but Landon West's triple in the top of the sixth brought home Blaine Brown, closing the gap to 4-3. Davion Hickson struck out six in 4.2 innings while taking his first loss of the year.
Up Next: Rice will open Day Two of the Classic by facing #2 Tennessee at 11:05 on Saturday and then wrap up the event against #1 Texas A&M at 7:05 on Sunday.
Notes
- The Owls have homered in five consecutive games, their longest streak since they had a five-game streak last year from May 5-11. The last time the Owls homered in more than five consecutive games was on March 21-April 1 in 2023 (seven games)
- Bocachica's homer extended his hitting streak to five games (.500, 7x14).
- Bocachica's father was 0x2 in his career playing at Daikin Park.
- West was 2x3 with a double and his first career triple.
