Guinn Tabbed Freshman of the Week; Hayes Honorable Mention

IRVING – Rice women's basketball freshman guard Mylee Guinn collected her first career conference honor, being named the American Conference Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Senior center Shelby Hayes also earned recognition, being named to the Honorable Mention.
Guinn is coming off a 10-point showing, featuring a trio of three-pointers, with two rebounds, two assists and a steal in Rice's win over HCU. Guinn also had eight points, a rebound, assist, block and steal on the road in a win over Grambling.
Hayes earns another spot on the weekly honorable mention after dropping 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting with six rebounds and two assists against HCU. Hayes added five points, nine rebounds, a block and steal at Grambling.
Rice (10-3) opens American Conference play on the road at South Florida on Dec. 30.
