Nick Anderson Named American Honorable Mention

HOUSTON — Rice senior guard Nick Anderson was named American Conference Honorable Mention, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
It is his first career weekly honor.
Anderson led Rice to a 16-point, second half comeback, defeating Arkansas State, 77-76, in its only game of the week. Anderson led the Owls with 14 points and three rebounds. With Arkansas State holding a 69-56 lead, Anderson scored seven straight points, his first points of the game, to get the Owls within two possessions. Then in the final minute, he knocked down two straight threes to give Rice the lead for good.
The 16-point comeback was its largest since an 18-point comeback at UTSA on Jan. 16, 2023. It was also the largest second half comeback since a 22-point comeback at UC Santa Barbara on Nov. 16, 2019.
Rice closes its homestand next Wednesday, Dec. 17, when it hosts Southwestern Christian in its annual School House Mania game. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. CT, and the game will be streamed by ESPN+.
