Hayes Named American Honorable Mention

IRVING – Following a career performance, Rice senior Shelby Hayes was named American Conference Honorable Mention, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Hayes led the Owls to a pair of wins at the Discover Puerto Rico Shootout over Illinois State and Morgan State. Hayes recorded a double-double with a career-high 23 points and career-high 15 rebounds in Rice's 75-72 overtime win over the Redbirds.
Hayes averaged 14.7 points and 7.7 rebounds over the team's three games, shooting 16-of-33 (48.4%) from the floor. She also recorded her first career three-pointer in a defeat to UCF.
The Owls (5-3) return home Wednesday night to face Sam Houston.
