Presented annually to the nation's best FBS punter by the Augusta Sports Council
Rice punter Alex Bacchetta has been added to the watch list for the Ray Guy Award, which is presented annually to the nation's best collegiate punter in the Football Bowl Subdivision by the Augusta Sports Council.
Bacchetta is averaging 45.1 yards per punt this season, including an average of 45.9 on 21 kicks over the last five games. He has nine punts of better than 50 yards over that stretch, including two (64 &62) that bettered his previous career best of 59 yards and two others that matched that distance.
He has 11 punts of better than 50 yards this season, one more than his previous career-high of 10 set last season.
He averaged 45.1 on eight punts in the Owls' 37-34 overtime win over UConn, including kicks of 62 and 56 yards and his 45-yard punt in the final minute of regulation pinned the Huskies at their own 20 to help force the extra session.
Baccehetta and the Owls will be back in action on Friday night when they host 25th-ranked Memphis at 6 p.m. Single-game tickets for all remaining home games on the 2025 schedule are still available. In addition to the option to purchase individual game tickets, Owl fans can take advantage of special pricing by purchasing a mini plan.
