Owls Advance to Quarterfinals

TULSA, Okla. – The Rice women's tennis team opened strong on the first day of the American Individual Championship in Tulsa.
Nithesa Selvaraj and Divna Ratkovic advanced to the doubles quarterfinals with an 8-4 win over Irmak Ozturk and Tianni Zhou. The duo will face Tulane's Natalia Perez and Natalia Fantini at 9 a.m. Friday.
In singles play, Ratkovic moved on to the quarterfinals after defeating Memphis' Natalia Koppova 6-3, 6-2. She will meet Francesca Miglio of Memphis at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
Selvaraj concluded her singles run with a 4-6, 1-6 loss to South Florida's Melisa Senli.
