Central Texas organization’s complex destroyed in 4th of July flooding
Rice Baseball will hold a pair of baseball clinics on November 8 to assist Ingram Little League in its efforts to repair its complex, which was devastated during last summer's flash flooding in central Texas.
Registration is now open for each of the two clinics, one for ages 6-12, and the other for players 13-18, at $150 per camper. The camp for players 6-12 will run from 9 a.m. to noon at Reckling Park, while the camp for older players will run from 2-6 p.m. In addition to funds generated through camp registrations, additional donations through either cash, check, or Venmo will be accepted that day at Reckling.
All proceeds from the camp will be directly donated to rebuilding the Ingram Little League complex, which annually allows over 270 youths from ages from Hunt, Ingram, and Mountain Home areas in West Kerr County to experience the joys of playing baseball or softball. The league not only plays a full league schedule but also plays interleague games with teams from Kerrville, Harper, Center Point, Leakey, Lakehills, Fredericksburg, Bandera, and Comfort, and has been a vital part of the community for decades.
"Little League baseball has always been one of the things that brings a community together, and we wanted to step up and do what we can to make sure that Ingram Little League remains a part of the lives of families for years to come," Bixby Family Head Baseball Coach David Pierce said.
The floodwaters over the 4th of July weekend destroyed all the playing fields, along with nearly all the infrastructure to run the complex. Several major donors, including the Houston Astros, have joined in the effort on the nearly $3 million project, but additional funds are still needed.
The deadline to join the Owls in supporting this effort by registering for the clinic is November 7.
