
Abdulky Claims Weight Throw Title at UH

HOUSTON – The Rice men's track and field team had top showings with a short number of athletes competing Friday morning at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invite at the University of Houston.
Cal Abdulky opened the season by claiming the team's first event title with the weight throw crown with a throw of 19.39m. Daniel Sowell finished eighth in the event with a throw of 15.89m.
Sowell later finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 16.45m.
Luke Ivy finished eighth in the long jump with a distance of 6.77m.
