HOUSTON – The Rice soccer team used a three-goal first half to defeat Texas Southern 4-0 Sunday afternoon at Holloway Field. The match was called at the 70:03-minute mark after a mutual agreement due to TSU injuries.

How It Happened
After three saves from the Tiger goalie kept things scoreless in the opening minutes, Allie Love found the back of the net off a pass from Jules Johnston and Carsyn Martz to give Rice a 1-0 lead. The Owls struck again in the 29th minute, with Martz heading the ball in off a rebounded shot. One minute later, the freshman connection of Camille Quarterman's shot off of Lilly Reuscher's pass gave the Owls a 3-0 lead, with the score remaining the same through halftime.
The Owls offense continued to put pressure on the Tigers, recording multiple shots in the opening minutes of the second half. Just shy of the 70-minute mark, Leah Chancey launched a shot through the back corner of the net to extend the Owls lead to four.
