HOUSTON — Rice men's basketball coach Rob Lanier has announced the signing of transfer Jacob Dar for the 2024-25 school year.
"We are so excited about Jacob," said Lanier. "His combination of personal character, elite athleticism, and overall skill is hard to find at any time of the year, let alone in July. We are truly fortunate that Jacob chose to come to Rice."
Dar, a 6-7 guard/forward, comes to South Main after spending the last two years at Emory & Henry. Last season, he led the team and ranked 19th in the South Atlantic Conference with 15.4 points per game while also leading the team with 5.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks. He scored double-figures 21 times, including nine 20-point games. Dar connected on 44.3% from the floor, 34.0% from three and 77.6% from the free throw line. He also added four double-doubles.
In his two years at Emory & Henry, he averaged 13.4 points, and 4.9 rebounds while connecting on 45.1% from the field, 35.6% from three, and 77.3% from the free throw line.
