BLACKSBURG – Rice men's track and field assistant coach Jeffrey Artis-Gray is set to be inducted into the Virginia Tech Hall of Fame as part of its 2024 class.
At Rice, Artis-Gray coaches the sprints and jumps. In his first season coaching with the Owls, Rice claimed several points from athletes at the AAC Championships this season under Artis-Gray's coaching.
With the Hokies, Artis-Gray was a five-time All-American, setting five school records with four still standing today. He closed his career with his best finish at an NCAA meet, placing fifth in the long jump, earning his second First Team All-American honor.
His four school records that still stand are the indoor and outdoor long jump, 60-meter hurdles and the 110-meter hurdles. The 2012 4x100m Relay team that also broke a school record stood for seven years before being broken in 2019.
Artis-Gray was a 2013 ACC Indoor event champion in the long jump.
