
Owls to Face ECU in AAC Championship Opener

Tournament opens on Tuesday
Houston-Rice has advanced to the 2024 American Athletic Conference Baseball Championship presented by Regions as the eighth seed and will face regular season champion East Carolina in an opening round game at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, Florida on Tuesday, May 21.

The Owls and Pirates, who concluded a three-game series over the weekend in Greenville, NC, will meet in the second game of the 2024 championship which will begin 47 minutes after the conclusion of the opening game between fourth-seeded Wichita State and fifth-seed UAB which kicks off the tournament at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
The tournament will be played in a double-elimination format through the semifinal round. The championship final is a winner-take-all matchup on Sunday, May 26, which will determine The American's automatic entrant to the NCAA Championship.
This will be the Owls' 26th appearance in a postseason conference baseball tournament, and the second in three seasons under head coach Jose Cruz Jr. Rice has won 11 postseason conference titles (seven C-USA, three WAC, and one SWC).
