HOUSTON — Rice men's basketball coach Rob Lanier has announced Thursday morning the addition of transfer Jimmy Oladokun, Jr., (Los Angeles, Calif./San Diego) to a grant-in-aid for the 2024-25 school year.
Oladokun, a 6-9 forward, spent his freshman campaign at San Diego, where played in 31 games, making 13 starts. He averaged 5.7 points per game and 3.0 rebounds per game. He also had 17 blocks while placing second on the team in field goal percentage, connecting on 49.1% from the floor. Oladukun had six double-figure scoring games, including a season-high 20 points at Loyola Marymount, and recorded a double-double against Northern Colorado.
Oladokun played at Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth, Calif., where he earned back-to-back First Team All-Baseline League honors. As a junior, he helped the squad to the Division I state championship.
"This is very exciting for our program" said Lanier. "Jimmy is a very young player but he has a level of toughness and physicality the will add immediate value to our team. He has a passion and competitive spirit that stands out. His future is very bright and we are so fortunate that he has chosen Rice."
Oladokun joins guard/forward Kellen Amos (Houston, Texas/Central Connecticut State), guards Denver Anglin (Montclair, N.J./SMU), Anthony Baston, Jr. (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Trae Broadnax (Savannah, Ga./USC Upstate), Aaron Powell (Valley Village, Calif.), and Jalen Smith (Orlando, Fla./SMU), and forwards Trey Patterson (Somerset, N.J./Villanova) and Caden Powell (Waco, Texas/Wyoming) in the 2024-25 recruiting class.
