HOUSTON, Texas — Rice women's tennis senior Federica Trevisan has been named the AAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending April 8. It is Trevisan's second consecutive week receiving the honor.
Trevisan, playing exclusively at the first positions, went 2-1 in singles and 1-1 in doubles last week to help Rice to a pair of ranked victories over AAC opponents. In Rice's 4-0 sweep of No. 51 South Florida, Trevisan, playing alongside graduate senior Chie Kezuka, posted a 6-4 win in doubles to help Rice to the early advantage before leading the Owls with a 6-1, 6-0 victory to begin singles play. Trevisan was again the first Owl to finish singles against No. 58 Florida Atlantic, erasing FAU's early lead with a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Trevisan also started the week against 29th-ranked FIU by building a 4-2 lead with Kezuka against the nation's 52nd-ranked doubles team before the doubles point was clinched.
It is Trevisan's second time this season being named the AAC Player of the Week and the third time in her career being named a conference player of the week. Trevisan was previously named the Conference USA Player of the Week as a freshman on Jan. 20, 2021.
Rice returns to the George R. Brown Tennis Center on Saturday, April 13, at 2 p.m. (CT) to celebrate senior day against Prairie View A&M. Rice will celebrate the careers of Trevisan and Kezuka as part of the match.
