Rice Recently
Rice has won six of its last seven overall and five of the last six AAC games, picking up its first AAC series win vs. UAB (April 12-14) followed by its first AAC series sweet and road series win at USF last weekend. Rice topped double figures in runs in each of the three wins at USF last weekend, winning 13-6, 10-6, and 10-3. It marked the first time the Owls have scored 10 or more in three consecutive conference opponents was at the 2010 C-USA when the Owls rolled past ECU (11-2), Houston (24-3), and Marshall (18-0) and the first time in a conference series since the beat Southern Miss 10-2 & 21-4 and lost 11-10 at Reckling May 15-16, 2010. The 36 runs were the most in a series for Rice since they scored 42 at UAB in 2017 and more than their combined total in the previous 11 conference games. Rice has hit .286 over the last seven games while the pitching staff has a combined 2.48 ERA and the defense has fielded at a .979 clip. In the first 33 games of the year, the Owls were hitting .229, the staff ERA was 5.50 and the fielding percentage was .968. The Owls also were 11/12 in stolen bases over the weekend compared with only 19 in the first 37 games.
