Blazers Hold Off Owls in Series Finale

Reckling Park: Jack Riedel slammed his 11th homer and added a triple, but Rice's hopes for a weekend sweep over UAB came up short as the Blazers held on for a 4-3 win on Sunday.
The Details: Rice's Tucker Alch and UAB's Colin Daniel matched each other through the first four innings, both tossing scoreless first and second innings before giving up single runs in the third and fourth before UAB broke through for two runs in the fifth. After UAB opened the scoring in its half of the third, Eric Correa led off the Rice third with a double and eventually scored the tying run on a double play. After UAB re-took the lead in the top of the fourth, Riedel slammed his 11th homer to right to even the score again. Ben Dukes pulled the Owls to within one in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI single with two outs. Riedel led off the ninth the a triple, but Daniel got the next two outs before reliever Christian Clack was called upon to record the final out.
Up Next: The Owls will be off until Friday when they open they make they open their first-ever series against South Florida in Tampa. First pitch for the opening game is set for 5:30 (central).
