
Rice Swimming Heads to Ocala for CSCAA National Invitational Championship

HOUSTON, Texas — Rice swimming is primed for the CSCAA National Invitational Championship in Ocala, Florida. The Owls are sending a total of 10 athletes to the competition.

The Owls will also compete in the 200-, 400- and 800-yard freestyle relays, plus the 200- and 400-yard medley relays. A full schedule of event is available through the CSCAA championship page.
The CSCAA National Invitational Championship will take place at the Florida Aquatics Swimming and Training (FAST) facility in Ocala, Florida, on Thursday, March 14, through Sunday, March 17. The competition will be available to stream via the FAST Florida Youtube channel
The Owls were last in action at the Texas A&M Last Chance Meet, a final opportunity for swimmers to qualify for national postseason events. Sophomore Ella Dyson led the way, placing first overall in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 16:14.03, narrowly missing the all-time record at Rice by two seconds and improving to 37th in the nation in the event.
Prior to the Last Chance Meet, Rice placed third with 593 points at the AAC Championships in Dallas. The Owls finished the competition with a total of 15 individual podium finishes, including six individual titles. Rice swimmers recorded conference titles in the 50-yard freestyle (senior Imogen Meers), 100-yard freestyle (Meers), 500-yard freestyle (junior Amelia Kane), 1,650-yard freestyle (sophomore Ella Dyson), 100-yard butterfly (junior Arielle Hayon) and 100-yard backstroke (Meers). The Owls also recorded another three podium finishes in the 400- and 800-yard freestyle relays and the 400-yard medley relay.
