
Swimming Flies High on Final Day of CSCAA National Invitational Championship

In Brief: Rice swimming wrapped up its stay at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship at the Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training (FAST) facility in Ocala, Florida. The Owls placed sixth as a team with 414 points.
The Details: The Owls registered another eight finishes among the top-eight on Saturday. The distance duo of graduate senior Shannon Campbell and junior Amelia Kane recorded a combined four top-eight finishes in the 1,000- and 1,650-yard freestyles. Campbell placed third in each of the events with times of 9:57.61 and 16:24.14, while Kane finished sixth in the 1,000 free with a time of 9:59.37 and jumped to fourth in the 1,650 with a time of 16:29.38. Senior Imogen Meers also recorded a pair of finishes in A finals, placing third in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 54.98 and finishing seventh in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.89. In the 200-yard butterfly, seniors Lauren Brantley and Elizabeth Myers each qualified for the A final, finishing aside each other in fifth and sixth place, respectively, with times of 1:59.81 and 2:00.34. The Owls also finished eighth in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Meers, Myers, Kane and senior Mimi Filkin recorded a time of 3:21.37.
Up Next: The Owls will have a trio of athletes competing in the CSCAA NIC LC Time Trials tomorrow at the Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training (FAST) facility. Graduate senior Shannon Campbell, senior Imogen Meers and freshman Siiri Einio are set to participate.
