IRVING – Rice freshman Aniah Alexis earned her first career conference honor after being named American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. Malia Fisher also earned conference honors, being named AAC Honorable Mention.

Alexis continued her strong freshman campaign, setting career bests with four assists and four steals to complement her seven points, two rebounds and one block in Rice's win against Texas Southern.

Fisher, a Preseason All-AAC First Team selection, earns Honorable Mention recognition after leading the Owls with 19 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal against Texas Southern. She is averaging 12.7 points per game after returning to the court.

The Owls (7-4) wrap up the non-conference season on Wednesday on the road at No. 17 Georgia Tech.
