- This will be the second meeting between the schools after UConn defeated Rice 38-31 last season at Rice Stadium.

- This will be the first meeting between the schools in football in East Hartford and the furthest east the Owls have played a college football game. Rice lost to Fordham 13-7 at the Polo Grounds in New York City on November 4, 1939, and that was the furthest east the Owls had played before this Saturday.
