Several Owls Advance on Day Two of ITA Texas Women's Regional Championships

FORT WORTH, Texas - Divna Ratkovic and Darya Schwartzman advanced to the round of 32 in the main draw on day two of the ITA Texas Women's Regional Championship in Fort Worth on Friday.
In addition to those Owls advancing in singles draws, a pair of doubles tandems will compete for spots in the doubles quarterfinals, as the duo of Fernanda Martinez and Schwartzman, as well as the tandem of Saara Orav and Nithesa Selvaraj both won two matches to clinch their spots in the round of 16.
In singles action, Ratkovic took down Daskalova from Texas Tech by a final of 6-1, 1-6, 6-0 to advance in the bracket. Schwartzman made quick work of Rooth from Stephen F. Austin by a final of 6-3, 6-1, to move on.
In doubles action, the duo of Martinez and Schwartzman took advantage of their first round bye and made quick work of their opponents from North Texas by a final of 8-2 to move on. Orav and Selvaraj earned two victories on the day, taking down a tandem from UT Arlington by a final of 8-6 before taking down a duo from rival Houston by a final of 8-4 to advance. Anushka Ashar and Ratkovic notched a doubles victory against a duo from Prairie View A&M by a final of 8-5, but fell to a duo from TCU at 8-5.
