Abdulky Named AAC Field Athlete of the Week

IRVING – After setting a new personal best in the 2024 indoor season opener at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational, Cal Abdulky was named the AAC Male Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
"This is a great accomplishment for Cal," said men's track and field head coach Jon Warren. "He has been working hard all fall, and it is great to see him perform so well so early."
Abdulky opened the new season by taking the weight throw event title with a throw of 20.89m, over a meter further than the second-place finisher. The mark moves him into second all-time in weight throw at Rice.
The Owls will be back in action next week at the Robert Platt Invitational at the University of Houston.
