
Rice Blanked on Road to Loyola (Md.)

BALTIMORE – The Owls couldn't break past the Loyola (Md.) defense as the Greyhounds came away with a 2-0 victory Sunday afternoon at Ridley Athletic Complex. The loss drops Rice's record to 2-3.
How It Happened
The Owls had few offensive chances early, with Sophie Zhang recording the game's first shot right into the arms of the Greyhound keeper 10 minutes into the game. Both sides couldn't get any clean looks off until Ellen Halseth fired a shot from the top of the box the rattled off the top of the crossbar allowing Loyola to clear the attack on the rebound. Both sides were scoreless at the half.
Loyola quickly got on the board to open the second half, with Olivia Quaranta scoring just over a minute into the half. Sarah Piper looked to even the score minutes later, but her shot was scooped up by Paige Sim in goal. Piper Biziorek had a chance at the 65-minute mark, but again couldn't get passed Sim. The Greyhounds sealed the game with just under five minutes to go with Nele Raap doubling the lead to 2-0, allowing the Greyhounds to close out the win.
