Daniels Named AAC Offensive Player of the Week

Quarterback JT Daniels has been named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after matching his career-high by throwing for 401 yards and three touchdowns in Rice's 43-41 double-overtime win over Houston on Saturday night.
Additionally, Daniels has been named one of eight Stars of the Week by the Manning Award and Davey O'Brien Award's Great 8 list for the second week of the college football season.
Daniels completed 28 of 42 passes with three touchdowns and one interception in leading the Owls to their first win over Houston since 2010 and taking possession of the Bayou Bucket. The win was also the Owls' first overtime win at home since 2001 and their first in a non-conference game since a 30-27 win over Houston at Rice Stadium in 2000.
His 401 yards passing are the sixth most in school history and the second-best total by an Owl in the Bayou Bucket. Tommy Kramer threw for 407 yards vs. the Cougars in 1976.
Daniels has been added to the Davey O'Brien Award's Midseason Watch List and is now eligible for the O'Brien Award which is presented annually to the top quarterback in college football.

Daniels and the Owls return to action this Saturday night when they host Texas Southern at 6 p.m. at Rice Stadium.
