
Fong Named CSC Academic All-America® Third Team

HOUSTON – Rice men's track & field decathlon athlete Corbett Fong earned a spot on the 2022-23 Academic All-America® Third Team for men's track & field/cross country as selected by the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Thursday afternoon.
Fong, a senior from Tomball, Texas, recently earned CSC All-District honors and earned C-USA All-Academic honors for the third-straight year. He holds a 3.95 GPA while earning a Masters of Bioscience and Health Policy. Last year, Fong was named the C-USA Student Athlete of the Year for track and field and is a four-time honoree of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Fong had a fourth-place finish in the decathlon at the 2023 Conference USA Outdoor Championships while winning two events in the decathlon. He later went on to place seventh in the javelin earning seven total points at the championships.
Fong is the first C-USA men's track & field student-athlete to earn Academic All-America recognition since 2016, when Evan Karakolis was tabbed First Team Academic All-American.
The four Academic All-America® teams total 179 student-athletes with an average grade-point average of 3.87 while 52 members posted a 4.0 GPA. The Division I team boasted a 3.84 average GPA.
