Rice Shines at J Fred Duckett Twilight Invite

HOUSTON – The Rice men's track and field team had several top finishes at the 19th annual J. Fred Duckett Twilight Invite at Rice University's Wendel D. Ley Track & Holloway Field, the final home meet this season for the Owls.
Rice got started early, with Shaun Kerry and Cal Abdulky going 1-2 in the hammer throw, while Nick Hicks finished close behind in fourth. Elian Ahmar claimed the shot put title while Alexander Slinkman won the pole vault. Discus rounded out the field events with Sam Welsh, Samuel Woodley and Hicks providing a 1-2-3 sweep for the Owls.
On the track, Grant Levesque grabbed a second-place finish in the 110m hurdles while Gus Gannon finished second in the steeplechase.
The Owls had 19 top-10 finishers with 16 placing in the top five.
