Welsh Named C-USA Field Athlete of the Week

DALLAS – After a strong showing at the Triton Invitational at UC San Diego, Sam Welsh has been named Conference USA Male Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon (4/11).
"Sam had a great meet against, literally, some of the best throwers in the world. It was a good weekend," said men's track and field head coach Jon Warren.
Welsh won the college portion of discus while finishing sixth overall with a personal-best throw of 62.04m (103-06). The mark currently ranks him first in C-USA, second in the NCAA South-Central Region and sixth in the NCAA.
The Owls will be back in action this week at the Mt SAC Relays and Bryan Clay Invite in California.
