
Austin, Fisher Earn C-USA Second Team Honors

DALLAS – Rice women's basketball senior Ashlee Austin and sophomore Malia Fisher both earned spots on the C-USA All-Conference Second Team as part of the conference's postseason awards, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Austin was named to the All-Conference Second Team for the second-straight year after leading the Owls with 12.6 points per game, which ranks twelfth in the conference. She has reached double-digits in 19 games this season, including a season high 21 points against Houston. Austin has shot 47.5% form the floor this season and averages 4.8 rebounds per game.
Fisher earns a spot on the second team after being named to the All-Freshman and earning honorable mention honors last season. She sits second on the team with 12.4 points per game (13th C-USA), leads the team with 6.8 rebounds per game (3rd in C-USA) and is second on the team in field goal percentage at 50%, including 41% from three-point range. This season she has recorded five double-doubles while reaching double-digit points in 18 games.
The Owls (22-7, 13-7 C-USA) will face the winner of No. 6 UTSA and No. 11 FAU in the C-USA quarterfinals on Thursday, March 9 at 2:00 p.m.
