Homers twice and drive in five
Reckling Park: Connor Walsh blasted a pair of home runs and drove in five to lead Rice to a 14-3 win over UTRGV on Tuesday night.
The Details: After Rice took a 1-0 lead in the first without the benefit of a hit, Walsh led off the second with a homer to left, the first of nine runs for the Owls in an inning that saw 69 pitches thrown to 14 hitters as Rice scored its most runs in an inning since scoring 11 in an inning vs. Houston Baptist last season. Pierce Gallo and Max Johnson each drove in a pair during the inning while Walsh, Drew Holderbach, Manny Garza and Christian Salazar each pushed a run across with bases-loaded walks. Walsh came back in the third to smash a three-run homer to left-center that traveled 413 feet. Mauricio Rodriguez started and worked four scoreless innings, scattering six hits and striking out three. Tyler Hamilton came on in relief and worked a career-best 2.1 innings and struck out a career-high three to earn his first collegiate victory.

Notes
- Rice improved to 3-0 in midweek games this season.
- The game was the first meeting with UTRGV at Rice since the Owls defeated UT-Pan AM 12-3 at Cameron Field on 3/25/91.
