Budin Leads Owls Past Mean Green

Charlotte, NC: Maria Budin won in both singles and doubles to lead Rice to a 5-2 win over North Texas on Saturday.
Doubles: With North Texas limited to four available players, Rice took the courts for doubles with a 2-0 lead due to forfeits at the fifth and sixth singles as well as at the third doubles line. The Owls took the doubles point with a 6-2 win by Budin and Federica Trevisan at the second line.
Singles: After North Texas cut the lead to 3-1, Budin delivered the clinching point by racing to a 6-0 win in her second set at the fourth line. Darya Schwartzman followed with her fifth-straight dual singles win to provide the Owls' fifth point of the day.
Up Next: Rice wraps up the weekend in Charlotte with a match against the 30th-ranked 49ers at 11 a.m. on Sunday. The Owls are home next weekend for the first of two weekends featuring a pair of ranked opponents. They will host #49 Brown and #59 South Florida next weekend and #36 FIU and #69 SMU the following weekend.
