Owls Sweep Singles and Doubles Play at Day One of Rice Invitational

Rice women's tennis swept its matches in both doubles and singles play on day one of the Rice Invitational at the George R. Brown Tennis Center. The Owls defeated doubles opponents from UTSA and singles opponents from Western Kentucky.
The Details
In doubles play, graduate senior Chie Kezuka and senior Federica Trevisan combined for a 6-3 victory over their Roadrunner counterparts. Junior Saara Orav and sophomore Darya Schwartzman posted a 6-3 win which was matched by the freshman duo of Divna Ratkovic and Anushka Ashar.
In singles action, Kuzuka, Trevisian, Orav, Schwartzman and Rakovic each won in straight sets over their Hilltopper opponents. Ashar completed the Owls' sweep of the day with a third-set victory in her singles match.
