Loxley, Ala. — The Rice Golf team closed out play at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational.
Freshman Jaivir Pande shot a 75 to tie for 26th-place at three-over par. Freshman Braeden Hoyt recorded his second round of par or better, firing a 72 to finish five-over par in a tie for 34th-place.
Senior Blake Benson finished in 62nd-place, 15-over par after carding a 77. Sophomore Lukas Boandl posted a 79, tying for 65th-place at 17-over par and graduate student Jay Kirchdorfer tied for 71st-place at 19-over par after shooting a 77.
Rice finished in 14th-place at 36-over par. Alabama won the team tournament at 11-under par, eight strokes in front of Chattanooga. Virginia Tech's Kobe Valociek earned medalist honors at 11-under par, one stroke in front of Kentucky's Alex Goff and Chattanooga's John Houk.

The season picks back up in the spring when Rice hosts the Bentwater Invitational at Bentwater Country Club in Montgomery, Texas, Feb. 12-13.
