Series Notes
• This will be the 20th meeting between the schools and the first since 2013.
• Tulsa leads the series 10-8-1, but Rice leads the series in Tulsa 5-4.
• Tulsa is 6-3-1 in Houston (6-3 at Rice Stadium) and has won the last six meetings.
• This will be the third consecutive game in the series played in Tulsa.
• Each of the Owls' last two wins at Chapman Stadium have come in overtime and each was decided on a 25-yard touchdown reception by a member of the Dillard family.
• In 2006, Tulsa erased a 20-7 deficit to send the game to overtime at 28-28. After the teams traded touchdowns on their first extra series, the Owls only allowed Tulsa to advance three yards on its second series to force a field goal. Faced with a third and ten at his own 25, Clement found Dillard along the sideline for the winning touchdown.
• Seven years later, the Golden Hurricane once again rallied, this time from a 24-10 deficit, to tie the game with 1:07 remaining.
• The Owls held Tulsa to a field goal to open overtime. Two plays later, Taylor McHargue combined with Darik Dillard on a wheel route for the winning points.
Breaking Through on the Road
The Owls head to Tulsa looking for their first AAC road win which would match their earliest road success in any conference. They won their second road game in the WAC by defeating New Mexico 38-21 on 10/5/96. They won their third road game as members of the SWC, blanking Texas 13-0 on 10/27/1917, and did not pick up a road win in Conference USA until their eighth game (the second of the second season), defeating UCF 40-29 on 20/21/06.

JT Daniels has thrown for 1,831 yards and 15 touchdowns in the first six games, his highest totals through six games in his career. His previous best was 1,540 in the first six games of his freshman year at USC in 2018.
Also notable:
Quinton Jackson returned four kickoffs for a career-high 114 yards, with a long of 41 yards vs. UConn. Jackson's effort was the best by an Owl since Juma Otoviano totaled 123 yards on five returns vs. LA Tech in 2021 while is 41-yard return was the longest since Otoviano dashed 50 yards on a return vs. UAB in 2021. The Owls KO return defense is ranked 30th in the latest NCAA stats, allowing 16.67 yards per return, the lowest average for the Owls since they finished the 2018 season ranked fifth with an average of 16.12.
