El Jardi Wins Twice to Advance to Regional Main Draw

Orav and Trevisan Advance in Doubles
In Brief: Diae El Jardi repeated her 2021 effort by winning a pair of singles matches to qualify for the main draw while Saara Orav and Federica Trevisan completed an undefeated day for the Owls with a win in the doubles qualifier on the first day of the ITA Texas Regional in Fort Worth on Thursday.
The Details: El Jardi took the early advantage in each match before being extended to tiebreakers in the second set of each match. She dropped Grace Thomas of Texas 6-2, 7-6 and then downed Tarleton State's Martha Makantasi 6-0, 7-6. She will face Sarina Reinertsen of Texas Arlington at 8 a.m. on Friday.

Up Next: Maria Budin, Marte Lambrecht, Orav, Darya Schwartzman, Trevisan and Allison Zipoli will join El Jardi on Friday morning in the opening round of the singles main draw which begins play at 8 a.m. followed immediately after by the round of 32. Budin and El Jardi, who are ranked 16th in the nation coming into the fall season and are the top seeds in the tournament, open doubles play at 3 p.m. on Friday as will the team of Lambrecht and Zipoli, joining Orav and Trevisan who advanced with their qualifying win on Thursday.
