Hicks Named C-USA Field Performer of the Meet

Junior thrower registered 16 points at C-USA Championships
DALLAS - Rice junior thrower Nick Hicks was selected the Conference USA Male Field Performer of the Meet following his performance at last week's Outdoor Championships, the league office announced on Thursday (5/19).
Hicks, from San Marcos, Texas, earned 16 team points all by his lonesome by winning the hammer throw and placing third in the discus.
Hicks posted a season-best mark of 63.87m (209-06) to defend his hammer throw title, securing his fourth career conference championship between his outdoor/indoor careers. Hicks threw 60+ meters on three of his six attempts with his best coming on his fifth attempt. One day later Hicks placed third in the discus with a throw of 52.89m for his eighth career all-conference performance.
Hicks, who currently ranks 30th in the NCAA West region, will be part of an Owls contingent that heads to Fayetteville, Ark. May 25-28 for the NCAA West Prelims.
