Slinkman Named C-USA Field Athlete of the Week

DALLAS – Rice sophomore vaulter Alex Slinkman was named the Conference USA Male Field Athlete of the Week following his performance last weekend at the Houston Alumni Invitational, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Slinkman placed third overall in the pole vault, establishing a season-best mark by clearing 5.21m (17-1.00) on his first attempt. That clearance currently ranks first in C-USA, 13th in the NCAA West region, and 25th overall in the NCAA.
The weekly award is the first for Slinkman, who was the 2021 C-USA Indoor pole vault champion.
The Owls men's track and field team will compete in this weekend's 44 Farms Team Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M at E.B. Cushing Stadium.
