C-USA Finalizes Owls '22 Football Opponents

Conference slate opens at Rice Stadium on October 1
Conference USA announced its updated football schedule on Wednesday, detailing the Owls 2022 conference slate. After opening with four non-conference games, including the home opener on September 10 vs. McNeese State, the Owls kick off their 18th season of C-USA football on October 1 when they host UAB at Rice Stadium.
The Owls open the 2022 campaign with a road trip to California for a matchup with the USC Trojans on September 3. They return to Rice Stadium to host a pair of opponents from the Bayou State, taking on McNeese State in the home opener (Sept. 10) and Louisiana (Sept. 17).
Rice closes out the non-conference slate at Houston on September 24 with the 41st Bayou Bucket Classic.
For the fourth consecutive season, the Owls will play their entire non-conference slate before opening C-USA play by hosting UAB followed by their off week on October 8. Dunlevie Family Head Football Coach Mike Bloomgren's squad returns to action on October 15 with a pair of road games, at FAU on October 15 and at Louisiana Tech on October 22.
Rice returns home to close out October by hosting Charlotte on October 29 and open November with a visit by UTEP on November 5.
The final three-game stretch in November will see Rice travel to Western Kentucky on November 12 and return home the following week to wrap up the home schedule by celebrating Senior Day prior to facing defending C-USA Champion UTSA on November 19. The regular season schedule draws to a close on the road at in Denton against North Texas on November 26.
Kickoff times, promotional schedules and the 2022 Homecoming date will be announced soon. Rice recently announced the "For The Owls" campaign which features several fan facing components to thank the Owls' loyal fan base. In addition, current football season ticket members who renew their seats for the 2022 season will be greeted by prices locked in at 2021 rates. Those interested in new season tickets should fill out the season ticket request form and will be able to also lock-in 2021 pricing until prices increase on Monday, April 18th.
All Conference USA games are subject to date changes and some dates are expected to move in the coming weeks in order to accommodate national television. A schedule of televised games will be released in the near future.
Conference USA's 18th annual Championship Game is scheduled for Saturday, December 3. Details on football championship format will continue to be discussed by the 11 members and released at a later date.
