Owls Hold First Spring Scrimmage

Spring Game set for April 16
Rice Football held its first scrimmage of 2022 spring practice on Saturday morning at Rice Stadium.
Wiley Green and TJ McMahon split the brunt of the snaps at quarterback, with Green finishing 7-10 for 90 yards and connecting with Gavin Reinwald on the only touchdown of the day, an 11-yard connection. McMahon finished 9-15 for 87 yards JoVoni Johnson completed 4 of 5 for 21 yards while redshirt freshman Shawqi Itraish was 2-3 for 34 yards.
Ari Broussard led the rushers with 34 yards on 11 carries, while Cameron Montgomery rushed for 23 on five attempts and Dean Connors gained 21 yards on four carries.
Cedric Patterson III (61 yards) and Andrew Mason (60 yards) each had four receptions to lead the receivers followed by Luke McCaffrey (27 yards) and Bennet Mecom (25 yards) followed with three each.
