
Carl Pierre Named NABC Second Team All-District

HOUSTON — A week after earning All-Conference USA honors, graduate student Carl Pierre was named Second Team All-District by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), the organization announced Tuesday morning.
Pierre is averaging a team-leading 15.3 points per game, good for seventh-place in C-USA while pulling down 4.6 rebounds. He leads the league in three-point field goal percentage, connecting on 40.9% from beyond the arc, and is second with 3.0 three-pointers made per game. He's also seventh in the league in field goal percentage, connecting on 46.7% from the field.
He has connected on 95 three-pointers to set a new Rice single-season record. He also tied the single-game mark for three-pointers with eight at Marshall.
The Boston, Mass., native has led the team in scoring a team-high 14 times and has recorded 25 double-figure scoring games. He leads the Owls with seven 20-point games, including twice scoring a career-high 30 points at Marshall and UTEP. He earned Conference USA Player of the Week honors after helping the Owls to a series sweep of Middle Tennessee and UAB.
Pierre leads Rice into the Roman College Basketball Invitational. The 14th-seeded Owls take on third-seed Ohio at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 19, in Daytona Beach, Fla.
