
Fisher Selected C-USA Freshman of the Week

Scored a season-high 20 points in win at UTEP
DALLAS – Rice forward Malia Fisher secured her second Conference USA Freshman of the Week award of the season following her stellar performance in Rice's road victory at UTEP last Saturday, the league office announced on Monday (2/7).
The Dacula, Ga. native scored a season-high 20 points on 50 percent (7-of-14) shooting from the field and a 6-of-6 performance at the free throw line to go along with seven rebounds, a season-high tying five assists and two steals all while playing the entire 40 minutes of Rice's 72-69 win over the Miners.
Fisher is averaging 9.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 1.4 steals in 32 minutes per game in her first season as an Owl and has now scored in double-figures in five consecutive games and six of her last seven.
Fisher becomes the fourth player in program history to win multiple C-USA Freshman of the Week honors in a season.
The Owls (7-9, 2-6) are slated to face the North Texas Mean Green (9-10, 3-6) twice this week in a home and home, starting Thursday, Feb. 10 in Denton at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+ before returning home to Houston on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m.
