HOUSTON — Rice men's basketball coach Scott Pera has announced Wednesday afternoon the signing of Gabe Warren (Plano, Texas) to a national letter of intent for the 2023-24 school year.
Warren, a 6-6 forward, currently plays at Dream City Christian High School in Glendale Ariz. While at John Paul II High School, he helped the Cardinals to a 31-7 record and their second Texas Association of Private And Parochial Schools (TAPPS) 6A state title in the last three years. He averaged 16.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game last year, while earning First Team All-State honors. He was also named Academic All-State.
Said Pera, "Today adds to an exciting week on signing announcements as we add Gabe Warren to our class. Gabe is a versatile wing player that fits our culture and style perfectly. He can play multiple positions on both sides of the ball and brings athleticism and toughness to the program. We are excited to have him and Keanu (Dawes) add to what will be a solid returning core as we enter the American Athletic Conference next year"
Warren joins forward Keanu Dawes (Stratford, Texas) in the 2023-24 recruiting class, giving Rice the No. 48 class overall by 247 sports.
