Ahmar Wins Shot Put at UH G5 & Super 22 Invitational

Owls record a four top-three finishes
HOUSTON - The Rice Owls men's track & field squad concluded their weekend appearance at the UH G5 & Super 22 Invitational on Saturday by competing in five events and recording four top-three finishes.
Sophomore Elian Ahmar was victorious in the shot put for the second straight meet, winning with a final throw of 16.84m. Sophomore jumper Ese Amata earned his third straight top-three finish in the high jump, clearing 1.95m to place second overall.
To conclude the evening, Elliot Metcalf (8:12.98) and Andrew Abikhaled (8:26.91) finished second and third, respectively, in the 3000m.
The Owls will head to College Station next weekend to compete in the Charlite Thomas Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M in the final meet before the C-USA Championships.
