In Brief: Rice hosts the second of two season-opening doubleheaders on Saturday as the Owls host UTRGV at 10 a.m. and Trinity at 3 p.m. at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.

The Owls: Rice is 2-1 after sweeping Lamar and Prairie View last Saturday. Emir Sendogan and Trinity Grear each improved to 3-0 with a pair of singles wins while Haoyuan Huang and Eduardo Morais registered their first collegiate dual wins, with Huang winning both his matches and Morais delivering the clinch point vs. Prairie View in his only singles match of the day.
George R. Brown Tennis Center: Rice is 66-28 in dual action since moving into their current home in the fall of 2014. They are 9-6 in C-USA play and 6-11 all-time against ranked opponents.
UTRGV: Comes into the match with an 0-2 record, dropping road matches at No., 5 TCU 6-1, and Texas Tech 7-0. Rice leads the series 14-1, including a 4-1 advantage at GRBTC. The two annually battled for the championship of the Rice Invitational (now the Ralph O'Connor Rice Invitational) with Trinity capturing the team crown 13 times since the event began in 1959. Both were consistent contenders for the NCAA title, tying for second in 1970. Rice also finished second in 1947 & 1968, while Trinity also finished second in 1971, 1977, and 1979.
