Myers Big Night Sparks Win over TSU
9/25/2021 11:15:00 PM | Football
Pounds his way to 208 all-purpose yards and four TDs
The Details: Myers smashed and dashed his way to career bests for rushing yards (160), touchdowns (4), carries (26) and all-purpose yards (208) to spark an Owl offense that scored on the first play of the game and continued to roll throughout the game, finishing with 620 yards of total offense. Jake Constantine, who became the Owls' 11th starter at quarterback since 2017, made the most of his first throw of the game, finding Cedric Patterson III alone on a post route on the first play of the game for a 73-yard touchdown. It was the first time the Owls had scored on the first play of a game since 2014 and the play marked a new career best for both graduate transfers. Constantine completed 18-23 passes for 271 yards while Patterson recording his first career 100-yard receiving day, finishing with 108 on three receptions. While Myers shoulder the bulk of the workload, logging half the Owls carries on the night, six of his teammates combined to improve his 6.2 yard per carry, each having at least one carry of 12 yards or more as the Owls piled up 349 yards on the ground.
Up Next: The Owls will open Conference USA action next Saturday when they host Southern Miss for a 5:30 kickoff that will also feature a salute to the newest members of the Rice Athletics Hall of Fame. The 11-member Class of 2021 will be inducted during ceremonies on Friday night and then saluted again on the field during the game.
