Annual all-star game set for February 5, 2022
Rice super senior Jordan Myers has been named to the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl Watch list, which was announced on Thursday. The all-star game, which has annually served as the first stet on the NFL draft process, will be held February 5, 2022 and broadcast on the NFL Network. Practices will be live on ESPN and NFL Network hosts a daily recap show each evening in primetime.
Myers elected to return to Rice for his additional year of eligibility after leading the Owls in 2020 with 24 receptions and also scored their only rushing touchdown of the year to give Rice the early lead in their win at #15 Marshall. He also returned a pair of punts and one kickoff and picked up a tackle on punt coverage, demonstrating again versatility that has been his trademark throughout his career at Rice.
The Reese's Senior Bowl had 106 total players drafted and 36 selected in the first three rounds this year's NFL Draft. The 106 figure represents 41% of the NFL Draft. A total of 17 Owls have played in the game, including Chris Boswell in 2014. Former Owls defensive end ND Kalu was named the defensive MVP of the south team in the 1996 contest.
Myers and the Owls open their 2021 season on September 4 at Arkansas. They open the 2021 home schedule the following week with the 40th Bayou Bucket vs. Houston.
