Rodrigo Martin Named to C-USA All-Freshman Team

HOUSTON — Freshman golfer Rodrigo Martin was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team, announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference office.
He becomes the first Rice golfer to earn the honor since 2016.
Martin was one of four golfers to participate in every team tournament, averaging 75.00 strokes per round to place second on the team. In eight tournaments, he led the team in four of them while also tying for the team lead with six rounds of par or better. He also recorded one top ten and a team-high three top 20 finishes.
Martin earned his first career top 20 finish at the Trinity Forest Invitational. A week later, he fired his best round of the year, opening the Louisiana Classics with a 66 on his way to a 16th-place tie. The Guadalajara, Spain native closed his impressive season in style, tying for sixth-place at the Conference USA Championship while finishing a season-best four-under par.
