Woodley Records No. 2 Discus Throw in Program History

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Freshman Samuel Woodley continued his early season dominance by winning his fourth discus event of the year, this time with a personal best mark of 58.71m (192-7) on Friday at the Texas A&M Invitational. Woodley's fourth round throw ranks No. 2 all-time in program history behind Ken Stadel (63.76m in 1973) and currently ranks No. 5 this season in the nation.
Woodley was one of three Owls to establish PB's on Friday, which also included sophomore Nick Hicks in the same event. Hicks placed fifth overall in the discus with a throw of 52.60m (172-7), a mark that ranks fourth in Conference USA this season.
Junior James McNaney finished second (65.60m/215-3) in the javelin and has now placed in the top three in all four of his appearances this season. Freshman Ese Amata cleared 2.00m (6-6.75) in the high jump to place fifth overall while freshman Travis Dowd was third in the 5000m (15:16.30) to conclude the evening.
The Owls are slated to compete in six more events at the Texas A&M Invitational on Saturday.
