
Sarkar Repeat Selection on C-USA All-Academic Squad

Rice senior Sumit Sarkar has been named to the 2021 Conference USA Men's Tennis All-Academic team, as selected by the academic advisors from the conference's 14 institutions.
Sarkar is a repeat honoree, having been named to the 2019 team. No team was selected last year after the spring tennis season was canceled due to the COVID-10 Pandemic.
Sarkar has posted a 3.58 GPA while majoring in Statistics along with a Business minor. He has been a ITA Scholar-Athlete, and Arthur Ashe Sports Scholar and a Rice Honor Athlete.
On the court, Sarkar was named the 2019 C-USA Player of the Year and has posted a career mark of 27-19 mark while playing at the first singles line and a 35-24 record at the first doubles line.
He and his Rice teammates will open play it the Conference USA Championship on Friday in Charlotte, North Carolina when they face second seed ODU at 9 a.m. (central).
